Feature Update Alert: Disabling Settings App No Longer Supported on Android 15

In previous versions of Android, Scalefusion allowed IT Admins to disable the Settings app on Company-Owned Android devices using Agent Mode via the Device Profile configuration.
However, starting with Android 15, Google has removed support for this functionality. The Android Enterprise team has confirmed that:
“In Android 15, the settings package has the OP_SYSTEM_EXEMPT_FROM_SUSPENSION, which prevents the suspension.”
This means the Settings app can no longer be disabled through the Scalefusion Dashboard for Android 15 and above devices, in Agent Mode.
Although this change has been officially implemented in Android 15, some OEMs may have adopted it in Android 14 as well. As a result, blocking the Settings app may not work on Android 14 devices if the OEM has restricted this functionality.
Impact:
Admins will still see the option in the Device Profile, but it will no longer take effect on Android 15+ devices.
Recommendation
We advise reviewing and updating your Device Profiles accordingly for Android 15 devices and exploring alternative restrictions such as selective app access, kiosk mode, or app blocklisting based on your use case.
